History of Voiceover Soho

Peter Morris established his first recording studio at 32 Berwick Street in London’s West End in 1997. Peter, who was signed as a recording artist to WEA at the time, set up the music production company, Street Furniture Music with co-director Mieko Shimizu.

With the studio in full swing, the two began composing music and providing sound design for film, TV, arts and theatre, for commercial clients such as Apple, O2, BT, Ford, Honda, Coca-Cola, to name a few.

After 10 years in production, Peter and Mieko started recording voiceover for the commercials and documentaries they were working on. Thus, their natural progression into the world of voiceover production began…

And so, Voiceover Soho was born!

Since its inception, Voiceover Soho has consistently grown from strength to strength and as it continued to expand, highly-qualified recording engineers, and booking and finance staff were brought in to handle the increasing workload.

With a need for further space, Voiceover Soho moved into new premises at 33 Tottenham Street, adding two new voiceover studios and a further 10 employees. Furthermore, we have recently introduced a fourth studio with additional recording features to accommodate the requirements of our clients and voiceover artists.

Today, along with our original studio in Berwick Street, Voiceover Soho has garnered a reputation as one of the most professional, creative and friendly voice recording and audio post production facilities in Soho and central London.

As the name suggests, Soho is at the heart of our business. While we have grown to accommodate four new recording studios on Tottenham Street, our roots are firmly grounded in Soho – after all, it’s where it all began!
